Maria is an Emtanon computer security expert. We first learned of her in July 2023, when she put together and placed the El Paso drop. One of her selfies in this drop had OTP22 catchphrases hidden in it, making her stance towards us ambiguous.

In September 2023, Maria was at the Emtanon HQ to fill in for Esprit in her absence. During this time, she was a target of social engineering by unknown hackers, leaking data files and nearly destroying an agent system. Afterwards, she was sent to Hawaii to track Felicity Love after she had flown there. While in Hawaii, Maria was more interested in the local food and activities than her mission.

On October 20 2023, a chat between Esprit and Desiree revealed that Maria has been promoted to be in charge of the Pacific agent command, and will be based in Hilo, Hawaii. Since arriving there in late November, she's allocated most of her time to “beach days”, shopping, and swiping on Tinder. At one point, she used AIR1 as her private jet to impress a Tinder date.

In January 2024, due to her knowledge of the Spanish language, Maria was chosen to lead a mission in Lima, Peru. Due to a map “decoding glitch”, she led her agents to the outskirts of Lima, where they were taken hostage by a street gang. Maria was the only one to escape, after which she was transported to the HQ for debriefing.

On January 26 2024, Maria was dismissed from the Pacific command, and reassigned to Gough Island. As a punishment, she's been barred from computer access, and made to decipher XOR messages by hand. She remained there until March 1st, when she was called back to the HQ.

After being reassigned to HQ, Maria attempted to raise her salary to 500,000 GBP by forging messages from J on her terminal. However, it was later deemed a technical glitch, and lowered to 100,000 GBP. She also orchestrated an outage of the map system, in order to play the hero and repair her reputation by “fixing” it.

In April 2024, Maria was dispatched to Salt Lake City, Utah to assassinate agent “WZ” by poisoning. She was told that her mission was to feed WZ a “tracking device pill”, which she actually believed. Maria only questioned this after we wrote to her portable Iris unit. Ultimately, she didn't kill WZ, while her superiors believed she did.

Afterwards, Maria was sent to Naples, Florida to oversee the setup of a new Emtanon office. Bored with the assignment, she went on an impromptu solo mission to Key West to regain WHISPER, a vessel lost back in January due to actions of Jeff. Maria seduced Noah, a man from the US Coast Guard base, with whom she left aboard WHISPER to Gold Cay, Bahamas. Marine Org was dispatched to regain the vessel, while Maria and Noah got drunk and engaged in hanky panky on the beach. WHISPER was successfully recovered, while Noah was asked to join enslaved by the Marine Org.
