Slate Deposits messages

The Slate Deposits messages are short encrypted messages used for communication between WORM assets. They are named after the book Slate Deposits in the Intermountain West which is used to decipher the messages.

Format

These messages are found on AS32 on agent codes 301, 302, and 303. The messages update daily. On each code, a text-to-speech voice says:

  1. Sequence number denoting the day of the year. For example, sequence number 2024001 means the first day of the year 2024.
  2. The ciphertext: Numbers in the range of 0-255.

The messages are deciphered using XOR operation between the spoken numbers and corresponding numbers from the book. The one-time pads for each sequence can be found in specific sections of the book:

  • 301: Finger of Fate, ID
  • 302: Winston, NM
  • 303: Devils Twist, UT
